Leaders of the road transport unions have promised to collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Corps in ensuring the success of the Corps’ end of the year special road safety patrol.
The assurance was made at the end of year operation meeting held with the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, at the FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja.
Present at the meeting were the NURTW, NARTO, RTEAN, and PTD-NUPENG. It also had representatives of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the National Security Adviser and the Department of State Service in attendance.
According to the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, Oyeyemi expressed satisfaction with the level of support and solidarity he had received from them over the years with some physically participating in the end of year special operations.
He said a sustained collaboration of the stakeholders was most imperative during the ember months due to increased human and vehicular traffic. He said the Corps was not leaving any stone unturned in its commitment to ensuring safer roads during the Yuletide.
Representatives of the unions in their various remarks commended the Corps Marshal for his untiring efforts to unify the various unions for a collective campaign against the menace of road traffic crashes.
They expressed satisfaction with the existing collaboration, unity and synergy, which they said was made possible through the unifying initiatives of the Corps Marshal and gave assurances that they would support the Corps for the success of the end of year special patrol.
The President of the National Association of Road Transport Owners, Alhaji Kassim Bataiya, said his union had secured the services of 200 members who would be sent to the FRSC for special training and deployment during the special operation.
